Themed Music.

Surely, I am not the only one.

Good Evening ladies and gentlemen. As an instrumental music enthusiast, I find myself often applying music I have heard to everyday scenarios in my head. I know I'm not the only one, because I had an entire conversation about it with a good friend today.

This raises a few quesitons. Why do I do it? Does it make things more entertaining? Should I be hired for film music?

In no specific order, Yes, To entertain myself, and probably not.

But back to the original statement, I do find that it makes things more interesting and dramatic. The only problem is it never happens straight up, only in when I reflect on what just happened. If only I could learn to control it.

Anyway, here's a list (you can tell I like lists. A lot.) of music themes that fit everyday.

A well respected man - The Kinks. You guessed it. This is most certainly my morning routine song. I even try to do up my shoes and tie systematically, like in stereotypical movies. If you haven't heard this song, I highly recommend giving it a listen.

Back in Black - AC/DC.
When walking down the path to ol' reliable (Toyota Corolla. I am not a wealthy man.) I enjoy the brief, ecstatic feeling of pretending to be a renegade of some sorts. Does this make be a dickhead? I'm not sure, and I don't care.

Have somewhere incredibly important to be? Running late? Lux Aeterna - Clint Mansell will add the suspense and atmosphere you need. Composed for the movie Requiem for a Dream, I often find it running in my head if I remember some kind of dinner I was meant to go to.

I'm important as fuck.

Reptilla - The Strokes. If there's a certain party atmosphere about an event, I find this song fits so well. I am a huge fan of The Strokes, and thus this will always make memories seem more entertaining, even if they bored me to death.

Your heart is as black as night - Melody Gardet. This smooth, sexy jazz composition will add an air of class and seductiveness to any situation. Inappropriate for lectures, breakfast or anything not involving a partner of choice.

What a wonderful world - Louie Armstrong. Okay, okay. It's corny, I know, but I can't help myself. It's such a beautiful song, that should be heard whenever you take a break from your injections of coffee & cynicism.

I hear music in my head. And I'm okay with it.

I know you do too, so why not let me know what's playing in your life?

Take care of yourselves.

- Oscar.
